Claims & Eligibility Verification

Only paid members are eligible to submit claims for financial support payouts, grief counseling, and document/printing services.

Payout claims must be submitted within 14 days of the group member’s date of death. Claims submitted after this window will not be eligible for benefits.

Waiting Period:
Membership benefits related to monetary support (including, but not limited to, pooled fund payouts and access to sponsored services such as grief counseling or printing) are subject to a mandatory waiting period of 12 months beginning on the membership activation date.

Members are not eligible to submit or receive claim-related benefits until this waiting period has ended.

Dead Serious reserves the right to verify membership duration before processing any claims or service requests.

Claims may be submitted by:

• The primary account holder, or
• Any listed Group Member over the age of 21.

This ensures that benefits remain accessible even if the primary subscriber is deceased.

All claims are subject to verification and fund availability. We reserve the right to request supporting documentation before processing a claim, including but not limited to:

• Claim Submission Form (completed)
• Valid proof of identity of the claimant
• Official death certificate or other legally acceptable proof of death
• Membership confirmation (subscriber name, email, and list of covered group members)
• Statement of responsibility confirming the submitting member is managing, organizing, or contributing to the end-of-life arrangements.

We aim to process all valid claims within 3–7 business days, but missing or incomplete documentation may delay the process. A submitted claim does not guarantee approval or service availability, as all benefits are provided as available and at our discretion, based on eligibility and current fund status.

Counseling and Printing Services Activation:
These services are selected as part of the Claim Submission Form. You’ll have the option to either:
• Opt in and receive digital gift cards that cover memorial printing and grief counseling services. These are provided through partner organizations and can be used at any time, in the way that works best for you. Please note: there is no cash payout option for these benefits, as they are intended to directly support counseling and memorial needs.

• Opt out and pay it forward, allowing those funds to remain in the community pool to support others in need and sustain the mission.

Important Notes:
• Claims for individuals not listed on the group plan will not be processed. Eligibility of claimants and beneficiaries is further defined in Section 5.
• Claims submitted more than 14 days after a group members death are no longer eligible for benefits.
• False or fraudulent claims will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to authorities.
• We strive to help every qualifying members with integrity and compassion, but services are limited and not guaranteed.
